This is Mounti from Mountaindog studios. We created mounti as our studio mascot.
We created Mounti puppy for Unreal engine 5 with real-time fur cards. We took realistic-looking fur as a challenge to make it in real-time in ue5 with alpha textures. We have developed our own shaders for the fur to get the best looks possible with cards for games. Because real-time cards always improve the performance of the games. We faced a challenge in how we can get believable results with cards. But our skillful team did great with that. Now we have built our own fur-making systems and shaders.
All the screenshots are directly taken from Unreal Engine 5 Game Viewport. It is made completely with Lowpoly cards. More fur stuff is on the way with breakdowns. Please scroll down the images you will find clay renders and more progress stuff with a variety of fur we made.
About Workflow :
We made a 4k fur alpha texture with different fur shapes in it. We placed them one by one in Maya according to the concept. It was taking time but we were focused on getting realistc results with just alpha cards. Dog sculpted in Zbrush. Textured in substance painter.
